NCPERS Voluntary Life Insurance
 RE: NCPERS Voluntary Life Plan

 Dear Member or Potential Member:

Over 36 years ago, NCPERS introduced a Group Voluntary Life Insurance Plan as a service for its membership. Since then, the Plan has paid over $100 million in benefits to our members and their beneficiaries in times of personal financial need.

The Voluntary Life Plan is designed to supplement other benefits offered by member retirement systems. Because it is a decreasing term plan, benefits are highest at younger ages when retirement values are lowest. The Plan complements retirement benefits and helps assure financial protection at all ages for family members.

Key features of the NCPERS Group Voluntary Term Life Insurance Plan include:

  • Group coverage assures competitive premium rates
  • Guaranteed issue to all eligible employees and dependents during open enrollments
  • No minimum participation requirements for member retirement systems
  • Premiums can be conveniently paid through payroll deduction
  • Coverage is portable and can be continued into retirement
  • Premiums remain level throughout participation in the Plan
  • Eligible dependents are covered under the Plan at no additional cost
  • Premiums are waived if you become totally disabled prior to age 60

The voluntary nature of the Plan means that no employer contributions are required. It allows you to offer a valuable benefit to your members without any added costs to your retirement system. It is designed for easy implementation and administration.

We hope that you review the enclosed information and consider this valuable program for your members.

Sincerely,

Pat McElligott
NCPERS President
