NCPERS' Written Testimony at Actuaries' Forum
September 12, 2008
The National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems had asked to testify before a public forum of the American Academy of Actuaries on September 4. The forum was convened by the Public Interest Committee of the Academy for the purpose of hearing from stakeholders in the debate over the disclosure of the market value of assets and liabilities in public pension plans. NCPERS was not invited to give oral testimony before the Public Interest Committee. Instead, NCPERS entered into the record written comments, which oppose the effort to require public funds to use a market value of liabilities approach to measuring the health of pension plans.
