David Kazansky

david-kazansky-photoDavid serves as a member of the NCPERS executive board. He was elected to the NCPERS executive board in 2019.
 
David currently serves as a trustee of the Teachers’ Retirement System of the City of New York (TRS). TRS has over 80 billion dollars in assets under management and provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to 210,000 members which is comprised of approximately 123,000 in-service members and approximately 86,000 retired members and beneficiaries. David has served as a trustee for TRS since 2015 and is a member of the investment committee and the budget subcommittee.
 
David was a classroom teacher in the Bronx for 12 years and his interest and expertise in pension matters began at the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) where he worked part-time as a pension consultant providing preliminary and final consultations to UFT members preparing for retirement. He became a union activist during his years as a junior high school teacher. First, he served on his school’s union consultation committee and then was elected a union delegate and later chapter leader.
 
In 2006, David began working full time for the union, first as a Bronx representative and coordinator of the Victim Support Program. Following his appointment as director of school safety in 2011, David founded the anti-bullying BRAVE campaign and its crisis hotline. He returned to the UFT Pension Department in 2014 and was elected to the TRS board the following year.

David is a board member of the New York Chapter of the National Association of Securities Professionals and has completed the Investment Strategies and Portfolio Management Program at the Wharton School of Business.
