Recruitment & Retention: Public Sector Challenges and Solutions

Start Date: 1/15/2025 2:00 PM EST
End Date: 1/15/2025 3:00 PM EST

Recruitment and retention issues are an ongoing challenge for public pension plans and plan sponsors that provide services at the state or local level. Despite recent increases in salaries and benefits, government positions, and especially public safety roles, are among the most difficult to fill — and keep filled — in the current hiring environment.

Join NCPERS on January 15 for a discussion of state and local government hiring and retention trends and how government agencies can meet their hiring and retention goals by harnessing the power of total rewards. Our panelists will include Zhikun Liu, PhD, Vice President, Head of MissionSquare Research Institute, David Huffaker, Vice President of Personalized Communications for Retirement & Investment Solutions, a practice of CBIZ, and Alex Lanning, National Director of Communications for CBIZ Employee Benefits.

Attendees will first learn about the latest research into trends, expectations, and motivations for joining the public sector workforce, including the significant variations by generation. Then the discussion will cover tools to enhance recruitment and retention efforts, such as the use of total rewards. Total rewards encompass everything an organization has to offer to current and potential employees, including compensation, benefits, and overall experience. The webinar will include tips for developing a strong total rewards program and effectively communicating its value to foster long-term workforce loyalty.
