Teresa Valenzuela serves on the NCPERS executive board. She is a member of the legislative, investment and insurance committees. She was first elected to the NCPERS executive board in 2018.
Valenzuela serves as a trustee on the Fairfax County Uniformed Retirement System (FCURS) Board of Trustees. Appointed by the County’s Board of Supervisors, she helps oversee the $1.7 billion pension fund for the fire fighters and sheriffs of Fairfax County, VA.
For the past 19 years she has served as the executive assistant to the general president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, which represents over 316,000 professional fire fighters and paramedics across the United States and Canada. In her role at the IAFF, she works with every division in the organization to protect the health, safety, wages and retirements of the professional fire fighters and paramedics who protect over 85 percent of the population in both countries.
She is proud to serve on the FCURS Board and to have the opportunity to give back to the community where she attended public school, raised her children and now resides.
