Professional Bio
Sherry Mose serves on the NCPERS Executive Board as First Vice President. She was first elected to the NCPERS Executive Board in 2016.
Mose currently serves as the Executive Director of the Houston Municipal Employees Pension System (HMEPS), the retirement plan for municipal City of Houston employees that provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits to over 33,000 participants and has $5.5 billion in assets. Prior to becoming the HMEPS Executive Director in December 2025, Mose served as Chairman of the HMEPS Board of Trustees, and was a long-time Trustee beginning with her election to the Board in 1998. Mose previously served as Plan Administrator of the City of Houston Deferred Compensation Plan, where she was responsible for all aspects of the program, which is available to over 23,000 employees and has over $1.6 billion in assets.
In addition to her leadership role on the NCPERS Executive Board, Mose is the President of the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems (TEXPERS). Mose also served as President for the National Association of Government Defined Contribution Administrators (NAGDCA) and has been a frequent speaker at deferred compensation and pension conferences. Her professional designations also include the NCPERS Advanced Fiduciary (AF) certification, and the Certified Trustee Training (CTT) certification from TEXPERS. Among her many accolades, Mose received the Director's Award for Outstanding Achievement, the City of Houston Communicator Award for excellence in employee communication, and the NAGDCA Leadership Recognition Award. Recognizing her outstanding leadership in making a difference for minorities and professional women, she received the Joyce Johnson Award from the National Association of Securities Professionals. Mose received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
