The 2026 Public Pension HR Summit brought HR leaders and administrators from public retirement systems across the country to Phoenix for three days of expert-led discussion and collaborative problem solving. Attendees worked through breakout ‘hot topics’ sessions, reviewed compliance and employment law updates, previewed findings from the latest Public Pension Compensation Survey, and explored how HR teams are putting technology to work — leaving with practical tools and a peer network that extends well beyond the Summit.
Attendees also had the option to add the pre-Summit Mental Health First Aid at Work training, earning a three-year certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing.

Beyond the Summit: Stay Connected with NCPERS Pension Fund Roundtables
NCPERS Roundtables bring together public pension professionals from across the country to exchange ideas, crowdsource solutions, and stay ahead of emerging challenges. Participation is free for staff at NCPERS member pension funds.
Human Resources Roundtable
Human Resources professionals at public pensions meet on quarterly basis via Zoom. The HR Roundtable currently has nearly 170 participants representing 100 systems.
CEO/Executive Director Roundtable
Pension fund CEOs and Executive Directors meet on a bi-monthly (every other month) basis via Zoom. The CEO Roundtable currently has more than 130 participants representing 123 systems.
Now Available: NCPERS 2026 Public Pension Compensation Survey
Conducted in partnership with CBIZ, the Public Pension Compensation Survey captures in-depth compensation and bonus data for public pension fund staff.
The 2026 survey received responses from 173 public pension funds with a combined nearly 21,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) employee positions and $5.9 trillion in assets under management.
The results are now available in a detailed report, providing a robust dataset intended to help funds benchmark their compensation and benefits packages across the public pension industry.
Inside the 2026 Public Pension HR Summit: Agenda Recap
Attendees were able to earn up to 11 Professional Development Credits (PDCs) for SHRM-CP® or SHRM-SCP® recertification, with an additional 4.5 hours available through the Mental Health First Aid at Work Training. Once attendance has been verified, we will email you separate instructions for accessing your SHRM certificate.
