PERSist: NCPERS Quarterly Research Publication

NCPERS members have the exclusive opportunity to help educate public plan trustees and staff by contributing articles to PERSist, our quarterly research publication. You can view past issues here (login required). Articles cover a range of topics, so please don't hesitate to reach out to our Membership team if you need any guidance.

Upcoming submission deadlines:

  • Submit articles by March 27, 2026 for consideration in the Spring 2026 issue
  • Submit articles by June 26, 2026 for consideration in the Summer 2026 issue

What should be included in your submission:

  • Please keep your article to approximately 750 words. Longer articles will be rejected or returned requesting editing for length. Please email the article in Microsoft Word to membership@ncpers.org.
  • Please submit a brief bio to be included at the end of your article. Please limit your bio to 150 words. Long bios will be edited down. Disclosures are also limited to 150 words.
  • With each entry, please submit a 1-2 line summary.

Submission tips and guidelines:

  • Articles will be accepted on a number of factors including educational relevance and timeliness - relative to the due date - of the submission. This is to provide our members with the most relevant and up-to-date education.
  • Charts, graphs and graphics are encouraged! Please send any images in JPG format. Please also include your charts, graphs and graphics in your Word Document. This ensures they are in the correct position.
  • We strongly discourage any references to your own company/ product.
  • Please tailor your articles towards public pensions, specifically mid-market plans.
  • We will run your article through a proofreader, but we will not make substantial changes to your article. We will only make basic grammar changes. We advise you run your articles through a proofreader first
  • Note: Each article published in PERSist will also be posted separately on the NCPERS Blog, which will drive additional engagement by members. These articles are, by default, made available for pension funds to reprint and share for educational purposes.
