Professional Bio
Freddy Delgado was elected to the NCPERS Executive Board in 2025. He brings a wealth of experience in pension fund governance, labor leadership, and public service.
Delgado serves as a trustee on the Miami Firefighters and Police Pension Fund, a role he has held since 2024. Since 2018, he has also served as a trustee on the Miami Firefighters Healthtrust Board. From 2014 to 2024, he was a member of the JMH Community Hospital Government Bonds Oversight Board, where he provided fiscal oversight for community healthcare funding.
He joined the City of Miami Fire Rescue in 1999 and served with distinction until his retirement in 2025. Since 2009, he has led the Miami Association of Firefighters as Principal Officer, holding various roles from Executive Officer to President. Delgado has also been an instructor in the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Partnership Education Program (PEP) since 2022, helping to educate and mentor fellow union members nationwide.
Delgado began his career working in his family’s restaurant business from 1984 to 1999. He holds a degree in Elementary Education from St. Thomas University, where he studied from 1984 to 1988.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Delgado graduated from Miami Springs High School in 1984. He currently resides in Miami, Florida.
