Matt Eckel
Director of Research
Professional Bio
Matt Eckel is Director of Research for NCPERS, where he helps guide and execute the organization's cutting-edge research agenda. He joined NCPERS in February 2025 and brings more than a decade of experience as a social scientist, advocate, educator, analyst, and econometrician to the role.
Before joining NCPERS, Matt was the Director of Research for Young Invincibles, where he helped make the case for economic equity and empowerment for the nation's young adults. In addition to his work at NCPERS, Matt teaches a graduate-level course in quantitative methods at Johns Hopkins University's Advanced Academic Programs in Washington, DC.
Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from McGill University, his Masters degree in Social Science from the University of Chicago, and additional graduate training from Georgetown University.
