Professional Bio
Cassandra Smoot is the Senior Director of Operations at NCPERS, where she leads the organization’s events and education departments. She oversees the development of NCPERS educational offerings and directs the planning and execution of the organization’s in-person events. She also serves as a trustee on the NCPERS Defined Benefit Plan.
Before joining NCPERS, Cassandra served as Education Program Manager at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), where she managed the educational content and the peer-reviewed abstract submission process for the Annual Meeting. She was also responsible for planning and executing several smaller educational meetings, as well as securing sponsorship support for these programs.
Earlier in her career, Cassandra was an Associate for Professional Education at the American Kidney Fund, organizing educational programs, public health fairs, and special events for renal professionals.
Cassandra holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from The Catholic University of America and a master’s degree in organizational management from The George Washington University. She is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP).
