NCPERS 2027 Legislative Forum & Policy Day

Trustees, administrators, and plan leaders come together to engage directly with Congress, federal agencies, and the Administration, sharing insights and experiences that shape the future of retirement security. This powerful event is perfect for those involved in pension policy and advocacy efforts.

First, you’ll gain key insights from industry experts, lawmakers, and regulators to better understand the state and federal policy landscape during the Legislative Forum (July 19-20). Then, take that knowledge to Capitol Hill for scheduled meetings with Congressional leaders during Policy Day (July 21) to ensure your voice is heard.

Who Should Attend?

Legislative Forum

Pension trustees, pension staff members, plan sponsors, and public plan stakeholders. We also encourage service providers of public pension community to attend and gain a deeper understanding of the critical issues impacting both current and prospective clients.

While nonmember pension funds are eligible to attend, NCPERS members save nearly 50% on registration fees. Learn more about the many benefits of joining the NCPERS network.

This is designed for public pension trustees, administrators, staff, and public sector employees who are passionate about advocating for retirement security. It's an ideal event for those looking to engage directly with lawmakers and influence legislative decisions that impact public pension systems.

NCPERS staff and professional lobbyists from Williams & Jensen will support attendees by helping to initiate meetings and navigate discussions.

Back to Main Event Page

The NCPERS Legislative Forum Policy Day is a vital opportunity for members to engage directly with lawmakers, advocate for retirement security, and shape public policy discussions on Capitol Hill. Attendees will meet with congressional representatives and their staff to ensure that the voices of public pension stakeholders are heard, building new relationships or strengthening existing ones on Capitol Hill.

MEETINGS WITH CONGRESS

NCPERS will schedule and manage your congressional meetings, allowing you to focus entirely on your advocacy efforts. Final meeting schedules will be sent to attendees one week before the event, as congressional offices typically confirm appointments closer to the date. Please do not schedule your own meetings, as this could conflict with the coordinated schedule and disrupt the overall group advocacy strategy.

FEE TO ATTEND

While registration has closed, the participation fee for this event is $100 and includes breakfast and a reception at one of Washington, DC’s iconic restaurants on Capitol Hill.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Policy Day at the NCPERS Legislative Forum offers a unique opportunity for attendees to directly engage with Members of Congress and their staff, advocating for public pensions and related policy issues. Throughout the day, attendees will participate in scheduled meetings, which could take place on Wednesday, July 21 from 9:00 a.m-4:00 p.m. ET. . These meetings provide a platform to share compelling stories, critical data about their funds, and insights into the broader impact of public pensions.

NCPERS staff and professional lobbyists from Williams & Jensen will support attendees by helping to initiate meetings and navigate discussions. Attendees are encouraged to use the NCPERS Legislative and Regulatory Issues Book as a resource and to present themselves as valuable contacts on pension-related issues.

The day concludes with a group Happy Hour, offering a chance to debrief, network, and celebrate the advocacy efforts. Policy Day is not only an avenue for advocacy but also an opportunity to foster meaningful relationships and drive impactful conversations on Capitol Hill.

COMMITMENT TO ATTEND

If you are committing to Policy Day, please plan your travel so your departure is scheduled on Thursday, July 22 to ensure you can take part in all scheduled meetings. Full participation is essential to ensure a cohesive advocacy effort.
