NCPERS Accredited Fiduciary (NAF) Program


Designed for pension trustees, plan administrators, and public pension professionals, the NCPERS Accredited Fiduciary (NAF) program provides the essential knowledge needed to excel in fiduciary roles. Divided into two parts—NAF 1&2: Governance & Finance
 and NAF 3&4: Risk Management & Human Capital—the program equips participants with practical skills and a deep understanding of these critical areas. Upon completing both courses and passing the required exam, participants earn the Accredited Fiduciary (AF) designation, demonstrating their expertise and commitment to fiduciary excellence in public pension plan management. The Next NAF Class Will Be Held In Spring 2026 (May 16-17) in Las Vegas!

The spring class of the NCPERS Accredited Fiduciary Program will take place May 16–17, 2026, in Las Vegas, prior to the Annual Conference and Exhibition. Registration for both Modules 1 & 2 and Modules 3 & 4 will open in mid-January.

MODULES 1&2: GOVERNANCE & FINANCE
Learn how to become a high-functioning board and gain an understanding of differing governance models and principles. Through interactive sessions, expert lectures, and case studies, you’ll take a deep dive into best practices for administering your fund’s investments while ensuring compliance with financial/investment policies.

MODULES 3&4: RISK MANAGEMENT & HUMAN CAPITAL
Gain a better understanding of the legal and risk oversight duties of your board. You’ll walk away with practical strategies for managing your fund’s reputation and improving communication with stakeholders. This program also explores human capital challenges, including recruitment and retention, performance management, succession planning, and executive compensation.
