This award honors staff members at public pensions who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills; shown superior innovation and creativity; and created a positive impact with their communications or member services work in the preceding year.

NCPERS is pleased to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the third annual Public Pension Communicator of the Year Award. This award honors staff members at public pensions who have demonstrated exceptional leadership skills; shown superior innovation and creativity; and created a positive impact with their communications or member services work in the preceding year.
 
Winner(s) will be recognized at the 2026 Communications & Member Services Summit, held March 2-4 in San Diego, California. They will receive complimentary registration to the Summit and will be recognized in a press release following the awards ceremony.

To nominate an individual for the Public Pension Communicator of the Year Awards, please complete this online form. You can either self-nominate or nominate someone else. We strongly recommend reviewing the scoring rubric and FAQs below before beginning your submission.
Employees of public pension funds. The fund must be an active NCPERS member in good standing. To verify your status, please contact membership@ncpers.org.
Yes, we encourage you to nominate anyone you believe deserves recognition (including yourself)!
Yes! Nominees are reviewed against their peers in three categories based on the fund's AUM (less than $10 billion, between $10-50 billion, and more than $50 billion) to account for varying resources. Nominees with less than five years of experience at their organization may also be considered for the Rising Star Award.
 
At their discretion, judges will select a winner in each category. Judges may also award an honorable mention.
This separate award category is meant to honor staff who have been at their organization for five years or less and have demonstrated exceptional potential and growth in their role.
Winner(s) will be recognized in person at the 2026 Communications & Member Services Summit, held March 2-4 in San Diego, California. They will receive complimentary registration to the Summit and will be recognized in a press release following the awards ceremony.
