NCPERS, CBIZ Partner to Provide In-Depth Compensation Data to Public Pensions
The 2024 Public Pension Compensation Survey will include comprehensive salary and bonus data for more than 80 positions commonly found at public pensions.
Media Contact: Lizzy Lees (llees@ncpers.org)WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS) announced today that it has partnered with CBIZ, a leading provider of financial, insurance and advisory services, to produce an in-depth compensation survey for public pensions.
The 2024 Public Pension Compensation Survey will include comprehensive salary and bonus data for more than 80 positions commonly found at public pensions, serving as a key resource to help public pensions of all sizes make informed decisions about compensation, benefits, and hiring strategies.
As the largest trade association for public pension professionals, NCPERS will engage its 500 plans, plan sponsors, and other stakeholders to participate in the survey, which will be distributed in May. The survey results will be made available at no cost to participants.
Historically, both CBIZ and NCPERS have conducted individual compensation surveys. The results of NCPERS' most recent compensation survey indicate that nearly 60 percent of public pensions are experiencing challenges with recruitment and retention. “With this partnership, we're able to provide a unified, more robust dataset. We hope to increase transparency into compensation and benefits packages at state and local pension plans to help identify what resources are needed to attract and retain qualified, high-functioning staff,” said Hank Kim, executive director and counsel for NCPERS.
NCPERS has recently launched several new resources to support the evolving needs of human resources professionals at public pensions. One of these resources is the HR Roundtable, which has been added to its existing lineup of Pension Fund Roundtables—groups of pension fund staff who meet virtually on a regular basis to ask questions, share ideas, and discuss timely topics with peers.
On September 24-26, NCPERS will host its inaugural Public Pension HR Summit to bring HR professionals at pension funds together for peer-to-peer learning, networking, and hands-on training. The findings from the 2024 Public Pension Compensation Survey will be previewed at the event.
